SAVITRI

Savitri is the fashion brand created by Sonia Medina in 2025. True to her commitment to craftsmanship and artisanal processes, Sonia Medina decided to support textile artisans in Benin. This small West African country, in addition to being one of the world's leading cotton producers, maintains a strong and rich cultural identity. The project began with a journey to find the artisans who are trying to survive and protect their cultural heritage despite the enormous pressure they face from the influx of fabrics produced and imported from Asia into their own country. The goal is to value their work by purchasing fabrics at fair prices, which will then be cut and sewn by Sonia Medina in her workshop on La Gomera.

Savitri's collections are limited and exclusive, offering unique and unrepeatable pieces simply because of the raw materials used. They are made from 100% high-quality cotton, dyed with 100% natural indigo or other dyes, using traditional batik processes done entirely by hand, resulting in fabrics of unusual beauty in the West.

Savitri offers exclusive, minimalist designs that are easy to wear, effortlessly stylish, and comfortable. These garments protect us, make us feel beautiful, and showcase a different kind of sensibility, a counterpoint to the invasive and destructive model of industrial fashion.

Kimono Lara

This kimono features an asymmetrical design: the irregular hem adds dynamism and a modern touch, breaking with the traditional structure of the classic kimono.

The versatility of its loose but adaptable pattern includes the more elegant option of cinching it at the waist with a belt to define the silhouette, or the more casual option of wearing it open and loose over other garments.

Kaftan Togo

This kaftan stands out for its fluidity, ideal for striking a balance between a summer breeze and sophistication, creating a relaxed look. The subtle transparency of its structured weave allows glimpses of the silhouette with elegance. It's subtly tied at the chest without compromising its simple essence.

Race pants and kimono

A short, minimalist kimono in a relaxed, oversized or adjustable style, perfect for pairing with jeans, basics, or for a complete batik look with the Gara trousers. This garment combines elegance and comfort with its wide cut and front darts that enhance the fit, and side pockets that maintain clean lines without adding bulk. Its full length visually elongates the figure.

Mara top and skirt

Two-piece set that offers a versatile total look with a clean structure and modern aesthetic.

The cropped top features a crossover back closure with buttons designed and crafted from the same fabric. The skirt has a clean design without a traditional waistband and a youthful length above the knee.

Tea pantaloon skirt

A clean-cut garment characterized by the combination of a dark striped asymmetrical indigo pattern that contrasts with another light blue part.

Furthermore, its belt, also made with fabrics of different patterns, the side pockets, and the below-the-knee length give it a dynamic and casual personality. It pairs perfectly with the Alma top as well as with any basic piece.

Top Alma

The cut of this top emphasizes the shoulders, keeping the focus on the ruched bodice and the flowing, hip-length A-line hem. It comes in two versions: sleeveless with a ruffle or with short, ruched sleeves.

The fine cotton fabric is ideal for its comfort and breathability on hot summer days. A touch of transparency adds a unique hint of delicacy and purity.
